FITNESS FINESSE


FITNESS IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF MY LIFE THAT ALLOWS ME TO MAINTAIN A BALANCED PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING. HITTING THE GYM FIRST THING IN THE MORNING GETS MY BLOOD FLOWING AND ENERGY BOOSTED TO HELP KICK-START MY DAY. AFTER A LONG AND STRESSFUL DAY OF CLASSES AND MEETINGS, THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN TO DESTRESS WITH A LONG RUN TO RELEASE TENSION AND CLEAR THE MIND. ALTHOUGH THE COLD PROHIBITS ME FROM MANY OUTDOOR WORKOUTS, I OFTEN MAKE USE OF THE TREADMILLS AND ELLIPTICALS AT THE INDOOR GYM ON CAMPUS. LATER IN THE SEMESTER, I WILL PARTAKE IN YOGA CLASSES ON A WEEKLY BASIS TO ADD A VARIATION OF PHYSICAL EXERCISE TO MY WORKOUT. 


FUEL IS KEY. IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN ENOUGH ENERGY TO ENDURE ANY PHYSICAL EXERTION, IT IS IMPORTANT TO INTAKE THE PROPER NUTRIENTS TO FUEL YOUR WORKOUT. BEFORE MY DAILY RUN, I USUALLY EAT A FRUIT BOWL WITH ANY ASSORTMENT OF FRUIT, OR YOGURT WITH GRANOLA OR PERHAPS A GRANOLA BAR AND TRAIL MIX. THESE ARE GREAT PRE-RUN SNACKS BECAUSE THEY AREN'T TOO FILLING AND PROVIDE ME WITH SUFFICIENT ENERGY (THEY'RE ALSO DELICIOUS)!


FINDING THE TIME AND MOTIVATION TO EXERCISE MAY BE CHALLENGING BECAUSE OF TIGHT SCHEDULES AND OTHER OBLIGATIONS, OR MAYBE IT'S PURE LAZINESS. I FIND THAT THE BEST WAY TO STAY MOTIVATED IS TO MAKE A DAILY SCHEDULE IN WHICH AT LEAST HALF AN HOUR IS DESIGNATED FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. TENDING TO IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES BUT ALSO BEING MINDFUL OF TAKING THE TIME TO DESTRESS CREATES A GOOD BALANCE. CONSTANTLY SEARCH FOR INSPIRATION AND USE IT AS MOTIVATION TO STAY ACTIVE. IT EVEN HELPS TO HAVE A FEW WORKOUT PARTNERS SO THAT YOU MAY ALL INSPIRE EACH OTHER TO STAY MOTIVATED.
